Several of the Top 25 Marketing Blogs were down this week, but I think it's mainly more tinkering from Technorati, especially when you see that most of the blogs from 15-25 were down in the same 40-60 links range. Only Seth's blog was up in the Top 10, but Church of the Customer had a decent jump to move up to #11.

Marketing Headhunter returns to the Top 25, and makes a nice splashdown at #23.

Next update is next Wednesday.

I think what you're seeing with the 60 link drop off (and will be more, I'm sure) is the six month anniversary of the appearance of the "Z-List."

Give yourself some credit, Mack! The "Z-List" generated many, many links late last December and early January,

Mack,

The drop in Authority has been fast. I went from 524 to 455 in less than a week. Is the Z List responsible? Has it been 6 months, so now those links don't count?

The 6-month window for the Z-List would have been around 2 weeks ago. So it's possible that links falling off from the Z-List is partially responsible. But on the flipside, some blogs had unexpectedly large jumps over the last 2 weeks, so I think there might be some 'Technorati correction' factoring in as well.

Something to watch, if it is the Z-List, we should see the blogs that were on that list continue to fall for I'd guess the next month or so, then the declines should taper off.

It is the Z-list wearing off. I've been dropping for the last few weeks.

And I think the Technorati tinkering is having an effect as well.

Personal opinion: most of the drop is due to the expiration date of the Z-List links.

I noticed that I started getting a lot of Z-List related links around December 21 and 22.

And then, remember when Seth made his "Vote for Good Blogs" squidoo (based on the Z-List) right around December 24th? That generated a lot of links as well.

Most of my drop started around June 21-22, and the biggest drop was June 25 (six months later). 545 down to 497.

I think that if this drop were the result of result of "Technorati tinkering" system-wide, then rankings wouldn't have been affected (everyone would have felt it). But that's not the case.

Once again, Mack: Give yourself some credit.

Also, if you were still using Alexa, no one would have a clue one way or the other!

Definitely the Z-list, Mack. I'm actually 'floored' to still make the list given the dropoff.... Great to see Marketing Headhunter on the list!

Yeah, I agree. It is the Z-list. I am expecting some big shifts in Mack's list over the next month ... many of us z-listers may drop off until the next incarnation ;)

The z-list link expirations are definitely affecting my blog as well. I actually expect it to keep dropping off for awhile, as there were many links at the beginning, then more from Seth's Squidoo mention, then through January more people kept it going. But I think some of the biggest gains were from the Seth link.

I was amazed to still see myself on this list, too! Of course, many of us are in the same boat. One more week...

Gavin we need a new community-building tool! I agree that the Z-List is biting back, but it appears that Technorati has also done some tinkering recently too. Either way, the shakeout should be over by the end of next month, I would guess.

I would be just happy to make Mack's blogroll ;-) At the split rate at which I am growing, I may never make the Technorati ranking. Or I could go off and use another tool that maps better to domain name vs. TypePad and start from scratch. Wait a moment, that is exactly how I think about publishing -- every day is a new opportunity.

Congratulations to all those who are hanging on even after the Z-list drops. And maybe Drew is coming to the rescue with the bloggers toolbox.

Done Valeria. I apologize, I thought I already had Conversation Agent listed.
