If you ever wanted to gain some ground on the top blogs, this was the week to do it. The Top 7 blogs were all down, fairly unusual, and blogs #8-11 capitalized to move up. One interesting switch was that Duct Tape Marketing swapped places with Gaping Void.

As unusual as it was to see the Top 7 blogs all fall, blogs #16-20 continue to move upward. Brand Autopsy had a big week, no doubt largely based on a popular series of posts on how Starbucks should re-invent itself, and John has moved to the front of the pack.

A couple of weeks ago, I said that it looked like Spare Change and Hee Haw Marketing might be able to separate themselves from the rest of the blogs in the Top 25, and take on the #16-20 group. This week, Nedra and Paul made their move, with Spare Change having the 3rd biggest move of the Top 25, and Hee Haw the biggest.

BMA is the week's lone new entry. For several weeks there hasn't really been many blogs past the Top 25 that are close to crashing the party. Normally there's a huge dropoff between #25 and the blog that would be #26. That's changing now, as several blogs, including CK's Blog, Being Peter Kim, Tell Ten Friends, Servant of Chaos, and Make Marketing History, are all closing in, so there could be some choppy waters at the edge of the Top 25 in the coming weeks.

Next update is next Wednesday.

Awesome. We're back. For the moment.

BMA has been really good lately, thanks to the contributions of the team... But I have to mention this... Has anyone besides me noticed Drew's relatively rapid rise to the top 10?

The man's blog is amazing.

The top 25 is big enough for both BMA and CK's Blog... but without a doubt, they're all worthy.

Cam,

Thanks for the kudos. I think, all humbleness aside -- a lot of my success has been a series of freak accidents.

~ There was/is the z-list
~ Then, I had the good fortune to write the popular Marketing Tips from Walt
~ Then CK came up with the Marketeers challenge and helped point a lot of new readers to my blog
~ I've written 2-3 series lately. The side benefit of that, as Mack has explained it to me, is that visitors to the blog are clicking on 3-7 posts, rather then the typical 1-2.
~ I've had great coaching from Mike Sansone of Converstations.

So I will take a little of the credit. But much of it is just good fortune. But I'll enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts!

Drew

Cam it's funny because several blogs have done that in the Top 25. It's like suddenly everyone wakes up and realizes that Blog A is pretty good, and it takes off.

Another interesting characteristic of the blogosphere ;)

Mack - That's why I'm grateful you're documenting it all... It's fascinating stuff. I would have had to search for a long time to find a lot of good blogs without your assistance. :)

What a cool list- really. Mack, you rock for doing this each week.

Drew- Your humble comments are awesome. It also points out the nature of the blogosphere- sharing and knowledge resources. That's a cool thing. Good for you!

I think Hee-Haw is ready for another guest post to push his rankings even higher. He could use the help.

I have to figure out how to find out what my rankings are for my blogs... or do I want to know the sad news?

Thanks again Mack for your hard work. The entire community benefits from your efforts.
