London Olympic Logo Has Everyone Talking/Blogging

It's official, London has announced its logo for the 2012 games. And there it be.

Not exactly gorgeous, is it? And if you're like me, you'll have to scratch your head and squint for a few minutes before you finally realize that the logo is in the form of 2-0-1-2.

And not surprisingly, most bloggers hate it.

But I also noted that Edelman invited bloggers to attend the 'launch' of the logo, including Hugh at Gaping Void, who is one of the few bloggers that actually likes the logo.

But whether bloggers hate or love the logo, a LOT of them are taking about it. And as long as people have a strong opinion one way or the other, that's usually a good thing.

It will be interesting to see how the conversation online tracks for the logo. My guess is that you'll eventually have some of the bloggers that just hate it now, shift to 'ok it's not that bad', and then to 'actually it's growing on me'. One thing I will say, it's definitely more interesting than previous olympic logos.

That's a bad logo, but NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING can be as bad as the logo/mascot for the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta, GA.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Izzy the Whatizit

It's the Olympics, with or without the logo. I doubt it will affect their popularity, such as it is.

I'm not fond of the logo, but it's not going to change my ambivalence one bit. :)

I am a fan of the Olympics and a faithful watcher. I like the logo as it speaks to what I think of the Olympics. Is it possible that those of us who are fans (I have been watching for five decades) relate more to the logo than do non-fans.

At the end of the day, Cam is correct. Logos don't define a business or it's products nor do they create customers and sales. They are a visual representation of the brand story, and for me this logo speaks to the story that I know.

Apparently they just pulled the supporting video b/c it caused at least eight epileptic seizures.

No joke.

I guess the colour of the logo is totally wrong. Why pink? There was a competition in the newspaper, asking people to reorganise the logo like a puzzle - somebody rearranged it as the map of Great-Britain. That makes a lot more sense to me!
