Technorati is tracking over 100 million blogs

The blogosphere has reached another milestone. According to Technorati's About Page, the service is now tracking over 100 million blogs, and is adding 175,000 new blogs every day.

Thought for the day: What's your guess on how many blogs Technorati will be tracking a year from now, and how many new blogs will be added every day?

More than 100 million and 175,000 a day? Less?

Does that count microblogs?

I believe it only counts blogs hosted on a blogging service. Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress, Movable Type, etc.

My guess is that it will be more blogs added but many of them will not be kept up consistently so the top blogs ranking will become even more meaningful. It takes time and dedication to keep up with a blog. I would be curious to see how many bloggers are consistently blogging 6 months after they start, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, etc.

I agree with Aruni -- more blogs, but an increasing percentage of them not kept active. But what we may lose in active personal blogs may be made up partly by more company blogs.
